6 Ways Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the World

The usage of the modern-day electronic devices like mobile phone, laptop, tab, etc. has significantly increased with the increase in internet usage. The all new things internet technology is doing for us have not merely helped in the advancement of technology, but has also made our daily lives simple. This is what we call ‘IoT’, or the ‘Internet of Things’. Let us analyse half a dozen interesting ways in which IoT has changed the world, and is still changing it so dramatically, day by day, every day!

1. Technological appliances are doing the work for you

Like you have probably wished always, someone else – the ‘internet’ – is doing the work of bringing things home and taking the ‘trouble’ of paying the bills on your behalf so that you wouldn’t need to spend a lot of time in making a long grocery list, visit the store, make manual transactions. Now you can simply place your orders online and get them dropped right at your doorstep.

2. The internet is becoming a part of our ecosystem

Presently, there has been a change in the way the internet technology used to work. More and more people are connecting more than one type of devices to a single hub, while, there are also different genres of websites and apps that run or work independently of each other. Thus, with more and more devices becoming intelligent and smart, connecting with a single hub (we mean – your personal life), your entire world, including your city, your neighbourhood, the society and people around you will eventually get transformed to an ecosystem.

3. There is a significant improvement in healthcare

The Internet of Things, by nature, is well-suited to take care of health. The technology has been employed to monitor, as well as collect electronic data from different devices. Thus, it has helped more and more doctors and the hospital staffs to utilize the technology for tracking the medical stats of the visiting and the admitted patients. The use of smart beds in many hospitals has made it possible to keep the nurses and attendants updated about when a patient leaves bed, or to adjust the position for a patient comfortable.

4. Traffic jams will be less and transportation easier

Traffic jam in different cities around the world has been a major problem, especially where life is fast. A long line of vehicles is not only tiresome, but is also a killer of time and money. To help people get rid of this everyday situation, technology has introduced satellite maps of places wherein, anyone can easily take a look at the traffic situation of any area, and can easily avoid or follow the same, accordingly. Stoplights have also been adjusted to control the flow of traffic in different streets to create the best possible timing.

5. Agriculture will be easier and food supply abundant

In farming, wherein the farmers, mostly living in the countryside, might not be able to get adapted to the newly-introduced technologies very fast, but will soon get accustomed to it soon, realizing the benefits of learning about the ways of assessing the conditions of the seasonal crops in real-time, analysing the same, and find out exactly how to proceed further with the help of smart devices. Eventually, this will lead to the supply of food a few times faster than it is now.

6. Humans will live in a smart world

With the fast and dramatic technological changes, we can expect that, within a few decades from now, we will sleep in smart beds that can measure our amount and intensity of sleep, and adjust our needs accordingly, brush our teeth using smart toothbrushes, get lists of out-of-stock food items from our smart refrigerators, and so on, quite much like technology is cooking dinner for us, keeping people from around the world in touch with each other 24X7, etc.

So, we can very easily understand, how the internet is no longer used for entertainment purposes like surfing through the sites during leisure hours, listening to music, watching YouTube videos, or making new friends over social networks, but also, eased our everyday work. In one word, it is not possible for us to imagine the boundaries of changes the human race is about to experience in the decades to come.
